To kickstart this vision, Stargate will immediately deploy $100 billion. The initiative will be led by a collaboration of key partners, including SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX. SoftBank will manage the financial aspects of the project, while OpenAI will handle the operational responsibilities. Masayoshi Son, the founder of SoftBank, will serve as the chairman.
The project is already underway, with the initial development taking place in Texas. Additional locations across the country are being considered as the project progresses and agreements are finalized. The key technology partners driving this effort include Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and OpenAI, each contributing their expertise to build and operate the AI infrastructure.
This collaboration builds upon long-standing partnerships. OpenAI and NVIDIA have worked together since 2016, and more recently, OpenAI has forged partnerships with Oracle and Microsoft. As part of the Stargate initiative, OpenAI will continue to utilize Microsoft’s Azure platform, further advancing its AI research and development to train more advanced models and create innovative products and services.
